Cadbury Diary Milk: Proud to be Fairtrade certified
Cabury Dairy Milk’s Fairtrade certification in the UK and Ireland is something worth singing about – so we are! ‘Zingolo’ is the first single from Lass and a Hall Full Records. Ghana is the heart of Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Fairtrade Cocoa and so the track celebrates all things Ghanian ; its people, its rappers, its dancers, its cultural figures and, of course, its cocoa beans. So turn up your speakers, get down and ZINGOLO!
High Spirit Dance Crew
High Spirit Dance Crew have been dancing together since 2007. Since then they have shared their brand of acrobatic street dancing with Ghana and now thanks to Cadbury Diary Mile – the world. High Spirit have worked with top Gahnaien performers like Prince Ramzy Williams and of course, Tinny winning countless competitions and awards and appearing on Ghana TV. Known for putting their bodies on the line every time they dance – their energy and enthusiasm was infectious and we’re sure you’ll agree the performance they give is out of this world.
The Artists
Nothing sums up the vibrancy and the spirit of Ghana better than the wonderfully bright, colourful hand-painted signs that adorn so many of Ghana’s streets. Which is why we decided to produce all of our posters in this style – hand-painted on real walls in Kof-Town, Ghana, by local Ghanaian artists; and by a happy coincidence, one of the artists’ parents were both cocoa farmers in that area.
Tinny
Tinny is one of Ghana’s leading musical lights - an artist who has achieved a rhythmically agreeable fusion of his native traditional ‘high-life’ music with the mainstream hip-hop rhythm to produce his own unique ‘hip-life’ sound. So fresh and original is Tinny’s sound that the likes of American hip-hop icon Ja Rule are already queuing up to work with him. Way to go, Tinny! Zingolo!
The Head
Wood carving is a big deal in Ghana; it is a centuries-old vocation as well as a revered art form which gains expression in different traditions, styles and meanings. Even wood carvings that are totally functional, like chairs, are sculptured with loads of symbolism and meaning. It is a fact that indigenous Ghanaian stools, were traditionally named after the matriarch of the home and were instrumental in tracing the ancestry. Of family members On our travels we came across this curious-looking carving of a human head. With its fluffy moustache and wink in his eye, we were taken with its playfulness. But when we realised that the head actually had drums for ears, we knew that we had to include a lookalike in our musical celebration. Local sculptors and artists helped us recreate this head for the starring role in the ad.
1. Why does Cadbury Dairy Milk taste so good?
Because it’s so creamy
We put a glass and half of fresh milk into every half pound of milk chocolate we make.
Because it’s so chocolatey
We use delicious cocoa beans from Ghana in West Africa. Why? We believe they’re the tastiest in the world.
Because we spent over 100 years making it that way
After 100 years of producing Cadbury Dairy Milk at our factory in Bournville, UK, and 76 years at our Irish factories in Rathmore in Kerry and Coolock in Dublin, we’ve got the hang of making it taste so good.
